One of Champagne’s younger houses, Telmont was founded in 1912 by Henri Lhôpital, shortly after he made his name during the infamous Champagne riots. His fledgling house passed to his son following his death in 1937, and became known as the modern Champagne de Telmont brand from 1947.
A frontrunner in sustainable practice, the house received its first organic certification in 2017 and launched its first certified organic cuvée in 2021 – one year after the Rémy Cointreau group became Telmont’s majority shareholder. Earlier this year, actor and environmentalist Leonardo Dicaprio became a minority stakeholder, with the stated aim of helping the house towards its ambition of becoming a 100% certified organic producer by 2025.
