Taittinger

The Taittinger family created its eponymous Champagne house almost a century ago, having purchased the Château de la Marquetterie from the wine house of Forest-Fourneaux in 1932. The house was the subject of some controversy in the industry when, in 2005, it was sold by the family to Starwood Hotels in a shortlived deal. However, in May 2006, the Northeast Regional Bank of the Crédit Agricole collaborated with Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger to return the business’ 289 hectares of primarily Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards to family ownership, along with the Château de la Marquetterie, its cellars and approximately 13 million bottles of stock.

Today, Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger continues to work in the family business, though the maison is helmed by his daughter, Vitalie Taittinger, and her brother, general manager, Clovis Taittinger.
