The first Champagne Salon was created in 1905 by Eugène-Aimé Salon – a Blanc de Blancs from the terroir of Le Mesnil initially bottled purely for Salon’s personal pleasure. He began to share his creations with others through the bottling of his first commercial vintage in 1921 yet, since then, the house has released only 37 vintages.
To this day, Salon comes from a single hectare vineyard plot – the Salon Garden – complemented by nineteen other small plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger selected at the beginning of the 20th century by Eugène-Aimé Salon himself.
The company passed to his sister following his death in 1943, before eventually being sold to Laurent Perrier in 1989. Today, the house is part of the Laurent Perrier group, along with Delamotte, while its signature Salon Le Mesnil 2002 and 2012 vintages are currently among the most sought-after bottles on the luxury secondary market.
