Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s oldest houses, also giving birth to Krug after Johann-Joseph Krug left Jacquesson to form his own house in 1843.
Despite being founded in 1798, the house is known for its forward-thinking approach, with brothers Laurent and Jean-Hervé Chiquet adopting a herbicide-free, terroir-based philosophy after taking over from their father in the 1980s.
They also retired Jacquesson’s non-vintage Brut blend in 2000 after 150 years, and replaced it with a single vintage-based cuvée, which changes yearly. The Champagne is always a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, with vinification in large old oak barrels on the lees.
