Born to a Japanese family who had sailed to Argentina as immigrants before establishing a thriving horticultural business, chef Christian Goya grew up in Buenos Aires’s vibrant settler community, where his appreciation for food was shaped by his two distinct cultural heritages.

After training in Buenos Aires and Los Angeles, he entered the kitchen professionally, working his way across a series of restaurants and hotels in LA, Paris and Geneva before returning to Argentina to work in the family business, farming fresh fruit and vegetables.

Now, as head chef at Dubai’s pop-up turned permanent eatery KAYTO, Goya brings that love of fresh produce to a menu that showcases his unique multi-cultural approach, blending Peruvian flavours with Japanese culinary traditions to demonstrate the highlights of Nikkei cuisine.
